Squaredot - National BCO award winner

02-10-2013

After eight regional awards in ten years, Squaredot were last night rewarded for their efforts by picking up a national award for the interior designs at Birmingham City Council's, 10 Woodcock Street. As part of the wider project team, the building was accorded the title of best building in the UK in the 'Corporate Workplace' category. Number 10 Woodcock street represents the culmination of Birmingham City Council's five year journey to rationalise and restructure it's entire back office portfolio. The creative design has provided a vibrant, open plan layout which houses 2,200 fixed and agile workplaces. The overall change process in this non territorial approach in both staff, culture and operations, has been a socio-economic success, and the council has already achieved significant improvements in staff performance and well being, as well as notable cost savings. The judges praised the fact that whilst walking around it, it is apparent that the building goes much further than the basic intention of providing a place of work; the various activities that are underway mean the place is buzzing with life.
