Following on from last year's success in the BCO awards with Lifford House. Birmingham City Council's Lancaster Circus won the Midlands & East Anglia regional award in the refurbished / recycled workplace category. The awards heralded a 6th individual title for our organisation and we are very proud, withour partners, to be a part of the Birmingham working for the future programme and it is the latest building to go 'live'. Offering 97,000 sq foot of office accommodation, it is by far the largest project undertaken thus far. The openness of the footplate is a key factor in transforming the work ethics of the staff in what was formerly best described as something akin to the set of BBC's 'Life on Mars'.
The Judges said that the scheme which developed a tired, redundant building into a contemporary workplace which its employees and more broadly, the people of Birmingham can be proud of, was testament to the investment made. The building encourages an open collaborative working culture and has enabled the council to move from 13 office buildings into 1 generating cost savings that will benefit the city for years to come?.
