Kings Place Headquarters. A business and HQ fit for the 21st Century

New headquarters in Kings Place presented Network Rail with an exciting opportunity – crystallising their ongoing vision of a radical change in the attitudes and behaviours of staff at every level by devising a forward-looking brief. For years Network Rail had been working closely with Squaredot to refresh, revitalise and refurbish numerous buildings in their property portfolio across the UK, including offices, training facilities and maintenance delivery units. The new HQ needed to reflect the existing consistency of design standards, while also setting itself apart as the focal point of the business, retaining true head office functions. 

When looking at the redevelopment of Kings Place and other Network Rail properties, it is clear that recent history over the early 2000’s had a huge impact on the projects. A united, consistent approach was vital due not only to failings of their predecessor, but also a long period of under-investment while catching up with record growth. Network Rail strive to always be forward-looking, and as such their HQ must be future-ready. This has resulted in fundamental changes to how employees work, but also significant changes to where they work. Squaredot has designed these buildings to complement their business objectives, values and visions including being forward-thinking, having a heart of communication, and a focus on attracting, motivating and retaining staff.

As the key location for Network Rail in many ways, Kings Place headquarters offers a contemporary office which carries through familiar themes from other office spaces, MDU’s and training facilities, whilst remaining individual and completely suited to its core functions. With the backdrop of Kings Cross, the building provides the ideal space for the organisation to continuously look forward while developing their staff and growing their business.
